Animal Control Officer – Jacob Rebar 207-479-2343.
The Osborn Animal Control Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of both the residents and animals within our community. We work to uphold animal welfare standards, resolve conflicts between humans and animals, and enforce local and state animal-related laws. Our goal is to promote responsible pet ownership and maintain a safe, harmonious environment for everyone.
Our Mission
The mission of the Osborn Animal Control Department is to provide humane and professional services in managing issues related to domestic animals, wildlife, and public safety. We are committed to the responsible care of animals and the education of our citizens to promote safe coexistence with local wildlife and pets.
Core Responsibilities
Pet Safety: We ensure that domestic animals are properly cared for, and we investigate cases of neglect or abuse.
Animal Capture & Relocation: Our team humanely captures stray, lost, or dangerous animals and relocates them as needed, prioritizing both public safety and animal welfare.
Wildlife Management: We manage human-wildlife conflicts, providing guidance on living with local wildlife and, when necessary, humanely removing animals from residential areas.
Rabies Control: Animal Control is responsible for handling potential rabies cases, including the quarantine and testing of animals that may have been exposed or are suspected of having the virus.
Licensing & Registration: We enforce pet licensing laws to ensure all dogs are properly registered, vaccinated, and accounted for.
Services We Provide
Stray Animal Pick-Up: We safely collect and care for stray or abandoned animals found within town limits. Efforts are made to reunite lost pets with their owners or find them new homes if needed.
Animal Welfare Investigations: Our department investigates reports of animal cruelty, neglect, or abandonment. We work closely with law enforcement when necessary to protect animals from harm.
Barking and Noise Complaints: We handle issues related to noisy animals, working with pet owners to resolve disturbances and maintain peace in neighborhoods.
Dangerous Animal Response: Our team responds to reports of aggressive or dangerous animals, ensuring public safety and taking appropriate action to control the situation.
Pet Licensing
All dogs in the Town of Osborn must be licensed annually. Pet licensing helps ensure that dogs are vaccinated for rabies and provides identification if your pet is lost. Licenses can be obtained at the Town Office or online. Please have proof of current rabies vaccination when applying for or renewing your dog’s license.
